Our client, a leading global investment bank is looking for an extremely strong Java architect to join their regulatory technology team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide and maintain technical excellence and high-quality technology solutions in an existing environment with highly advaned and complex architecture
• Collaborate with global technology teams (developers, project managers, architects) to design and extend the regulatory system to meet the strategic technical and business goals
• Provide hands-on development especially on complex components to ensure that key pieces of architecture are built correctly
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers
   

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Mandatory

• Core Java: 7+ years
• Object-oriented development: 7+ years
• Automated testing experience e.g. JUnit, Fitnesse, QTP

The successful candidate will also:

• Demonstrate strong problem solving & analytical skills
• Have a track record of technical leadership in development projects (4+ developers) with an emphasis on design and development
• Be enthusiastic about teaching junior developers and providing technical mentorship over a team
• Take ownership of issues to ensure follow-through
• Have strong communication skills and feel comfortable working in a global team that both welcomes and challenges new ideas

Preferred

• Experience of Test Driven Development strongly desirable
• Agile development experience
• Working knowledge of C
• Knowledge of database technologies, particularly Sybase and Object-Relational mappings
• Knowledge of financial products are preferred but not mandatory
• Project management skills

This role is based in Tokyo but Hong Kong would also be considered.
